• Emerson Automation Solutions has completed its purchase of Mynah Technologies, which has been an Emerson alliance partner and provider of dynamic simulation and operator training software. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The acquisition will support Emerson's Operational Certainty program to help industrial companies achieve top performance. Mynah's Mimic simulation software is presently used at more than 1,400 sites across 68 countries in industries ranging from hydrocarbon production, refining, chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology.
• Metso selected Rockwell Automation on May 31 to deliver a global Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform that connects, monitors and performs analytics for Metso’s equipment and services for its mining and aggregates customers. The digital solution will securely collect and store data from Metso equipment worldwide. The industrial IoT solution is built on the FactoryTalk Cloud platform from Rockwell Automation, powered by Microsoft Azure.

• The Automation Federation announced June 5 that it hired industrial control systems cybersecurity expert Marty Edwards as its new managing director. Edwards is currently director of the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team, an operational division of the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) in the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS). Edwards will replace the Automation Federation's present managing director, Mike Marlowe, on June 26. Marlowe will continue with the organization as managing director emeritus until his retirement in December.
• ABB reported June 6 that it's won another order from international minerals group LKAB to modernize five mine hoists for its high-tech, underground iron ore mine in Kiruna, Sweden. ABB’s delivery includes mechanical equipment for the hoist plants and shafts, electrical and control equipment, construction, electrical installation, installation supervision, site management as well as commissioning.
