A new era in radar level measurement began a few years ago when VEGAPULS radar sensors began using 80 GHz technology. Getting accurate level measurements suddenly became much easier and more reliable due to the radar beam’s more precise focus.
VEGA’s new, compact series of radars use the same 80 GHz frequency, but these radars use a new microchip, which is smaller in size, provides a faster start-up time, and uses less energy. These radar sensors can measure the level of liquids and bulk solids. All of this results in a compact, versatile radar sensor.
The new VEGAPULS radar sensors are available in two versions: 1) compact with cable connection housing and 2) standard with a fixed IP68 cable connection. Both versions maintain steady, accurate measurements, unaffected by external influences like solar heating, air temperature fluctuations, weather conditions, buildup, and condensation. Users can choose from 4...20 mA, HART, SDI-12, or Modbus at the direct output signal, and ATEX versions are also available.
