Thank you to those that sponsored me for the MS Waves-to-Wine bike ride

The Waves to Wine ride from San Francisco to Sonoma raises money for the Muscular Sclerosis Society
Sept. 30, 2025

On Sept. 27, my son and I participated in the MS Waves to Wine bike ride, which is a fundraiser for the Muscular Sclerosis (MS) Society. I wanted to thank all who donated.

My son and I (my daughter rode with me last year) do this in honor of my mother-in-law, who had MS and for many years had no use of her legs and minimal use of her arms. Waves-to-Wine is a 75-mile course from San Francisco (Waves) to Sonoma (Wine). The route goes over the Golden Gate Bridge, down to Sausalito and then over two 600-foot-high mountains to Stinson Beach (on the Pacific), through the Point Reyes National Seashore, and then through rolling hills, and finishes at Sonoma State University.

The total elevation gain was 5,200 feet with the steepest climb being 15%. The total elapsed time was seven hours, which included four rest stops. We averaged 11.5 miles/hour. My body says it’s a good thing this ride is only once a year.
