Yokogawa Electric Co., parent company of Yokogawa Corp. of America, announced Dec. 26 that it's agreed to accelerate collaboration with petrochemical manufacturer Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), and serve as a preferred control systems supplier. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, SABIC is a public company that includes four strategic business units: petrochemicals, specialties, agricultural-nutrients and metals. So far, Yokogawa has delivered integrated control systems in several SABIC plants, such as its 1,000-kilotons per years ethylene plant in Jubail.
Under the alliance agreement, Yokogawa will promote localization in Saudi Arabia, and its integrated control systems and safety instrumented systems will be preferentially selected for plants operated by SABIC in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions. Also, Yokogawa will promote manufacturing excellence by collaborating with SABIC on innovative digitalization technologies, as well as energy optimization programs.
