To provide easy, low-risk upgrade paths for machines with obsolete Allen-Bradley PLCs, SoftPLC programmable automation controllers (PAC) can replace the A-B PLC itself, or interface a new Rockwell PLC with RIO/DH+ devices. Logic, I/O, wiring, HMIs and communication networks can be preserved. This lets users decide which parts of the system to change right away, and which to retrofit at a later time. SoftPLC PACs also have more memory, I/O capacity, and communications than Rockwell Logix controllers.
