First, here's the link to my cover story in the August issue of Control on ControlGlobal. http://www.controlglobal.com/articles/2010/Wireless1008.html
Second, I've just received the final draft of the RFP that will now be sent to the ISA100.12 committee for approval.
"This document is a request for proposals (RFP) to address IEC62591 and ISA100.11a convergence which meet the requirements described in Appendix A of this document. Candidate proposals will be considered in whole or in part, in order to form a recommendation to converge the current IEC62591 and ISA100.11a standards.
"The resulting ISA100 SC12 recommendation will address the use cases for wireless industrial applications and the convergence requirements derived from them which are contained in Appendix A, ISA100.12 Convergence User Requirements Task Group Use Case Document.
"This document describes the process for responding to this call for proposals, and also describes how ISA100.12 SC will evaluate the proposals received."
Keep your fingers crossed, folks. We may yet be able to have a single wireless field network standard.
