Honeywell's "boilermaker in chief" Norm Gilsdorf is one of nine alumni receiving an award from Purdue University during Engineers' Week. One of the other alumni is another distinguished woman in engineering, Joan Miller, a senior vice president at CH2M-Hill Engineers.

"Utilizing their Purdue educations to the fullest, these men and women have a measurable and substantial influence on the world around them."
The 2010 Distinguished Engineering Alumni are:
* Thomas A. Burke of Racine, Wis., who earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural and biological engineering and is president and CEO of Modine Manufacturing Co. Burke is being honored for his contributions to the development of energy-efficiency technologies and improved operational effectiveness in the vehicle component and systems industry.
* Geoffrey T. Crowley of Appleton, Wis., who earned a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary engineering and is president of Northshore Leasing LLC. Crowley is being honored for his innovation, entrepreneurship and national leadership in the aviation industry.
* Darryl W. Davis of Wildwood, Mo., who earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering and is president of phantom works for Boeing Defense, Space and Security. Davis is being honored for his technical and managerial leadership in the military aerospace industry.
