WBF Names Keynote Speakers for 2007 North American Conference
Research Triangle Park, NC (5 February 2007) - WBF has announced that
Dr. Paul McKenzie, Vice President and General Manager - LSCC at Bristol
Myers Squibb, and Walter Boyes, Editor-in-Chief at CONTROL Magazine,
will give keynote addresses at the WBF 2007 North American Conference.
This year's conference will be held April 30 - May 3, 2007 at the
Tremont Grand Conference Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. McKenzie's keynote address, entitled "ISA-88 - It's Not Just for
Batch Anymore," will give an overview of the Bristol Myers Squibb
systems in pharmaceutical development. Topics will include the BMS
Pharmaceutical Development road map for laboratory systems, quality
systems, and process control. McKenzie will also discuss achieving
harmonization, focusing on consistent facility capabilities, standard
procedures approach, and reduced/shared documentation.
The address will give attendees more information on standardizing
equipment, operations and data collection, and creating a seamless link
with SAP for management of materials. Dr. McKenzie will share his
insights on "plug-n-play" analytical instrumentation, real time batch
reporting, modeling and implications for technology transfer, ISA-88 and
the laboratory, and bottom-line results.
Dr. McKenzie is currently Vice President & General Manager of LSCC,
Technical Operations, in the Worldwide Medicines Group of Bristol Myers
Squibb Company. In this role, he is responsible for the design,
construction and start-up of the new biologics plant in Devens,
Massachusetts.
Previously, McKenzie was Vice President, Technology Transfer, in the
Worldwide Medicines Group of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He, along
with his colleagues, created and oversaw the business processes for
technology transfer of fermentation, chemical, biologic and drug product
processes for new drug candidates from the Pharmaceutical Research
Institute to Manufacturing.
The second keynote at the conference will be given by Walter Boyes,
Editor-in-Chief of CONTROL Magazine. Boyes will offer his observations,
prognostications, and his vision for the future direction of the process
automation industry.
Boyes has more than 25 years of experience in sales, sales management,
marketing, and product development in the controls and instrumentation
industry both for process instruments and environmental controls,
including executive committee experience in three companies.
Prior to joining CONTROL, Boyes served as Principal of Spitzer and
Boyes, LLC, as an expert at business transformation for small to
medium-sized companies. He provided strategic planning, organizational
development, business re-organization and electronic business
re-engineering services for companies from roughly $5 million to roughly
$100 million in revenues per year.
The annual conference which is open to all will feature dozens of
presentations on the industry's hottest topics, along with instructor
led tutorials on ISA-88, ISA-95, and B2MML. Technical presentations will
focus on ISA-88 and 95 applications, Implementing a Standards Based
Approach, Batch Models and Advantages, and New and Emerging
Technologies. The conference will also provide numerous opportunities
for networking and sharing of practical experiences on how to lower
costs and improve operations.
