Siemens announced Sept. 19 that it's picked PAS Global, the leading provider of industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity solutions, to join a strategic partnership to provide stronger visibility and security across industrial control systems (ICS) in the oil and gas and utility sectors. The partnership is expected to give users: visibility to detect and respond effectively to attacks; deep analytics required to identify and inventory proprietary, multi-vendor assets; and the ability to secure proprietary and non-proprietary control systems.
Endress+Hauser Group announced Sept. 22 that it's acquired IMKO Micromodultechnik GmbH, a manufacturer of moisture measurement systems. IMKO’s headquarters and its 19 employees will remain in Ettlingen, Germany. IMKO systems measure moisture for environmental monitoring, food and beverage, chemical and life sciences by employinh time domain reflectrometry (TDR), a technology based on the time of flight of reflected radar waves. This provides information regarding the dielectric constant of a material which in turn relates directly to the material’s moisture.
Fluke reported Sept. 13 that the Institute of Engineering at Murray State University in Murray, Ky., has been chosen grand prize winner in the Fluke Pressure Calibration Tool Grant Program. The school will receive three Fluke 729 automatic pressure calibrator worth $24,000 for use in its industrial instrumentation laboratories.
Bentley Systems Inc. reported Oct. 9 that it'd agreed to acquire Action Modulers’ water-modeling software business located near Lisbon, Portugal. The team of environmental modeling scientists and researchers, led by general director Frank Braunschweig, develops Action's modeling software products.

ABB announced Oct. 9 that it's opened the AbilityCollaborativeOperationsCenter for pulp and paper in Helsinki, Finland. The center will expand ABB's global network of experts, digital technologies and knowledge to improve users profitability and efficiency. It will also provide the latest analytics and cloud technologies from ABB's partners, such as Microsoft and IBM, and deliver real-time remote monitoring and technical support to help optimize production, improve quality and minimize costs.
ProComSol Ltd. reported Oct. 3 that's partnering with Smart Embedded Systems to use SES's firmware-based HART PSK (9600/1200 BPS) and FSK (1200 BPS) modem to complement its HART 7-compliant communication stack. “Our companies have worked together on projects, and it became clear that we have a complementary skill set," says Jeffrey Dobos, president of ProComSol. "A partnership made sense, and will provide many benefits to the HART market. SES’s offering of the industry first firmware HART modem combined with certified HART stack will allow users to offer cost effective and full turn-key solutions.”
