Honeywell has signed an agreement with NK Rosneft, a leading Russia-based oil and gas producer, as the main automation contractor for the construction of its new refinery at Tuapsinskiy NPZ, Southern Russia.
The plan is for Honeywell to deliver the Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) that will supply the Tuapse refinery with a single integrated production control system. With Experion PKS, the refinery will be able to improve both the efficiency and profitability of its production process. Honeywell will also provide assistance during the design and commissioning stages of the project.
Honeywell will also implement its UniSim Design Suite process simulation software to increase staff safety and minimize operator errors at the refinery. Honeywell will provide the site with Advanced Process Control and Manufacturing Execution Systems to help improve the efficiency and reliability of the production process.
The refinery is currently undergoing a complete upgrade, including the construction of a new distillation unit with a total capacity of 12 million tons per year as well as a number of utilities, infrastructure and offsite facilities. The second stage of the upgrade project will involve the construction of a deep conversion facility.
