Yokogawa buys renewable energy management solutions supplier BaxEnergy

June 26, 2024
Provides REMS for more than 120 GW of renewable energy operations in more than 40 countries
Yokogawa Electric Corp. announced June 5 that it’s acquired BaxEnergy, which provides renewable energy management solutions (REMS). This acquisition will let Yokogawa offer technologies that have already been accepted by power companies throughout Europe. It will make them available to energy asset owners worldwide, supported by consultation on implementation and after-sales services through its global network.

Established in 2010, BaxEnergy reports it provides flexible, scalable REMS that can be implemented without needing to modify core IT and business systems. Its products can integrate management of a variety of renewable power generation facilities, and can analyze data from turbines, inverters, and other types of power generation equipment from different manufacturers to improve generation efficiency. These solutions can reportedly enhance plant availability by up to 10%. By integrating the data management in a cloud environment, BAxthe solutions enable customers to view customized KPI and alarm information on all kinds of devices, including smartphones and tablets, giving them the information needed to promptly make decisions that will have a direct impact on revenues and capacity utilization.

“We’re proud to now be part of the Yokogawa family,” says Simone Massaro, CEO of BaxEnergy. “Through this relationship, we’ll be able to scale globally and provide power producers and process industry users with our intelligent data engineering and renewable energy management expertise, delivered through our data infrastructure and ecosystem of applications.”

Koji Nakaoka, SVP and head of the company's Energy & Sustainability Business Headquarters, said, “Yokogawa contributes to the realization of a resilient and sustainable society by supporting safe and optimal operations throughout the increasingly diversified energy supply chain. We look forward to leveraging BaxEnergy’s unique strengths to generate synergies and accomplish this aim.”
