The partners will deploy Siemens’ Xcelerator platform to transform processes via BAE Air sector’s FalconWorks R&D business

After partnering for decades, Siemens Digital Industries and BAE Systems announced July 22 they’re collaborating regioon engineering and manufacturing technologies embracing digital transformation, while using digital capabilities in program lifecycles.

During their five-year agreement, Siemens and BAE plan to develop a blueprint for future engineering and factory-of-the-future capabilities in design and manufacturing at BAE. This extends their recent deployment of Siemens’ NX software for product engineering and Teamcenter software for product lifecycle management (PLM) in Siemens’ Xcelerator software.

The two companies add they’re committed to working together regionally and internationally on sustainability, industrial digitalization and supply chain modernization. The plan to develop a framework to accelerate commercial application benefits to BAE Systems.

“This agreement builds on a well-established, successful collaboration between BAE Systems and Siemens, which both want to encourage manufacturing careers and innovation,” says Brian Holliday, managing director at Siemens Digital Industries in the U.K. and Ireland. “This partnership is a good example of Siemens’ broader vision for how we want to work with customers via Siemens Xcelerator, which is built on digital portfolio, eco-system thinking and a digital marketplace.”

Iain Minton, technology capability delivery director at BAE, adds, “Collaborations like this help us develop and invest in digital-thread-enabling technologies in a more integrated and seamless way. Siemens understands our operating environment, so we can quickly develop an idea to the point where it can be put into practice, for example when we’re looking to implement and optimize new engineering, support or manufacturing capabilities.”
