Ametek buys Virtek Vision

Laser-based projection and inspection system manufacturers will join Ametek’s Electronic Instruments Group

Ametek Inc. reported Oct. 31 that it’s acquired Virtek Vision International, which provides laser-based projection and inspection systems. Headquartered in Waterloo, Canada, Virtek annual sales of approximately $40 million. It will join Ametek’s Electronic Instruments Group (EIG), and enable a wider range of automated, 3D scanning and inspection products by its Creaform business unit.

Virtek specializes in developing and manufacturing 3D laser projectors, smart cameras and quality-control inspection systems, powered by AI-driven software and algorithms. Its machine vision solutions give users precise, virtual, laser-guided measurements and inspection capabilities to help automate assembly processes, and improve manufacturing efficiency in aerospace, defense and industrial applications.
