Metals plant solutions provider Tenova has selected ABB to supply and install drives and automation for Southeast Asia tinplate manufacturer Perstima at its new electrolytic tinning and tin-free steel line in Malvar, Philippines. Scheduled to start up in June, the project includes the ABB Ability System 800xA DCS to integrate control, electrical and communications for visibility into all processes for stable production and efficient use of raw materials and energy, as well as its compact AC800 PEC controller, control desks and posts.
ABB will also supply its Collaborative Production Management for Metals software to optimize process and production planning, asset monitoring and manufacturing execution. ABB’s ACS880 low-voltage multi-drives and motor control center (MCC) switchgear will complete the package, which will give Perstima a compact, fully integrated, easy-to-use control, automation and drives system.
“ABB was the logical choice to equip Perstima’s new electrolytic tinning lines with proven technology for accurate line speed and tension control,” says Stefano Marelli, global sales for Southeast Asia at Tenova. “ABB’s solutions matched perfectly with Perstima's requirements and will give them a robust drive and automation system that can be expanded as the plant develops.”
Shailendra Dubey, hub industry lead for metals at ABB, adds, “This is another successful cooperation with Tenova in Southeast Asia, following projects in Indonesia, and Vietnam."
