Measurement, Control and Automation Association (MCAA) reported May 16 that it inducted Ken Hoffer, CEO of cryogenic flow measurement specialist Hoffer Flow Controls Inc., into the MCAA Hall of Fame at its recent industry forum in Tucson, Ariz.
Hoffer pioneered self-lubricated ball bearings in turbine flowmeters; developed the first HART-enabled device to receive official certification by the HART Communication Foundation; created the first portable field calibration system for cryogenic flowmeters; and developed the first and only turbine flowmeter to be certified by the U.S. Navy for use in nuclear propulsion service and pass shock and vibration certification for unrestricted naval shipboard applications.
Hoffer is the eighth MCAA member to join its hall of fame. The others include Gordon Arnold of Sierra Monitor Corp.; Wade Mattar of Schneider Electric; the late Richard Morley, inventor of the PLC; Robert Deane and Malcolm McQueen of Fluid Components International; the late Judy Stevenson of Magnetrol International; and Dr. Peter Martin of Schneider Electric.
