Pepperl+Fuchs celebrated the recent opening of its $25-million, 100,000-sq-ft U.S. Distribution Center (UDC) in Katy, Texas, with an Oct. 15 ribbon cutting at this new central warehouse from which Pepperl+Fuchs distributes more than 10,000 products worldwide, often guaranteeing shipping within 48 hours to many locations.
UDC also houses a manufacturing facility for Pepperl+Fuchs’ purge and HMI product lines, as well as an expanded Solution Engineering Center (SEC), customer training area, and showcase for more than 1,000 sensors. Some of these and other Pepperl+Fuchs automation technologies help control UDC's automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS), parts picking and conveyor for quick transport and shipment. SEC's team can design, build, and certify customized solutions on-site for process automation in hazardous locations in weeks instead of months.
UDC was scheduled to open in 2017, but was damaged by a tornado during Hurricane Harvey. Following a massive rebuilding effort, UDC is fully functional. It's one of six similar Pepperl+Fuchs facilities worldwide with the others located in England, Germany, China, Australia, and Italy.
